Gaming & Tech Use Self-Check
Regular self-reflection helps ensure a healthy balance between online activities and daily well-being.
Questions to Ask Yourself
It’s good practice to have regular check-ins with yourself to assess your gaming and tech use, as well as how it impacts your overall well-being. Below are some important questions to consider:
Are you feeling more alone and isolated? Does the outside world you used to enjoy now feel like a strange and scary place?
Are you participating less in other activities you used to enjoy, such as sports, hobbies, or spending time outside?
Do you feel like online activities are all you can think and dream about?
Are you noticing more frequent mood changes? Do you tend to feel low, depressed, anxious, or irritable when you aren't using your device?
Are you irritable even while using your device? Does engaging with tech no longer feel as fun as it once did?
Do you frequently lose track of how long you spend online and/or how much money you spend?
Are you losing real-world friendships and choosing your device over spending time with family and loved ones?
Are you hiding or lying about your tech behaviors?
Do you find yourself spending less time on personal self-care, such as sleeping, eating properly, or maintaining hygiene?
If you are noticing any of these feelings or behaviors on a regular basis, it may be time to re-evaluate your gaming and tech habits.
